Your numbers are correct pre-covid. Now a 40-50k tractor is running 90- 120k. The used truck dealers are taking advantage of the shortages.

I just looked on Ebay and FB Marketplace. 90k is still high. 50k is a truck with 700k miles. 70k-75k is what I was seeing with mileage at 500k miles. So I will stick with saying the 90k is high

Private vs dealership. Most drivers buying used equipment don't have the money or credit to buy that way.

I think @lovesthedrive is delirious having memories of 2 stroke detriots that ran good. I will admit some local guys had fire breathing 2 strokes back in the day but they needed overhauling every winter.

Not sure what you're saying here? Plenty of trucks back in the day came with 2 strokers. That's what I'm looking for.

I realize they're not the horsepower king, but rebuild kits are cheap and a third grader could do it on the side of the road with almost no special tools except a set of feeler gauges.

Those and the original 855 were what I learned to work on when I turned wrenches for a living.

I know drivers from back then hated the Detroits. I loved them for their simplicity... and just like my 12-valve Dodge, they'll run as long as there's fuel and air. No electronics is my goal.

MACK E-6, spindrift, InTooDeep and 6 others Thank this.

Had to break out the headphones for that one. I love the sound of those things.
