Ive seen a few in my travels... But never done one myself. Personally I think I get just as much wood in the same amount of space the way I stack it.

I very deliberately place each and every piece, with the bark side to the sky. Im trying to teach my kids to do the same. It is a very tight stack, but still lets air move. Very little space is wasted, and because I utilize the self typing ends, it is also freestanding.

I actually climbed on top this stack today to finish stacking what i had split after the last row was full... I just spread the last few arm loads evenly on the top. It was just as stable as the ground, even when near the edges.

No, but he asked if I had insurance.

    ROFL

It's like dude, see that spot on title where it says I release all interests in the vehicle where I signed it, and it's notarized?

No pity for him. Told him that's not going to stop like a vette.

LOl reminds me of a crisp cool morning letting the little ####fire (TR Spitfire III for those not in the know) sing going over Pacheco Pass. I hit the bottom in overdrive with all the motor in it's happy spot.

A little ways up I see a car in the rearview. Not a regular cop car so just let it sing. Finally, near the crest, the passenger in a t-top Vett stand up and yells at me "What you got in that thing". A dropped out O.D. and walked away from him over the crest. Hit O.D. once I was back in the power band and never saw the guy again.

Dave woulda walked away from me in the straightaways. I think we would have similar lap times on a road course though. Sears point Jan 1995

Making firestarters... Or as my wife calls them "Magic"...

    1017212054.jpg

Egg crates stuffed with dryer lint. Then melt paraffin wax and pour over until lint is fully saturated and bottoms of egg crates looks darker.

Allow to cure for at least 12 hours in a cool dry place. Once completely cured, cut all "egg slots" apart and store in a coffee can or similar container.

To use simply place 1 "egg slot" upside down on a solid surface and light with a match or lighter. Immediately add small to medium tinder, continue to add tinder and larger wood until fire is going good.
