So pulled doubles today for the first time. I like how they track behind the truck in city driving. I also learned that I don't care for 70mph and was more comfortable between 60-65, I see why the rear trailer is called the kite. Going down I-4 I could see the marker lights moving back and forth a lil in the mirrors. Building/breaking sets isn't too bad but I could see if you had a air leak somewhere that could kinda suck. Overall good day, learned something new.

Boy i sure wish i had a conestoga right about now. Got 4 stops on this load of aluminum. The first stop is 1 package , about 12 feet long and weighs roughly 5 pounds. The 2nd stop is 1 package about 12 feet long and weighs rougly 60 pounds. The third stop is basically 90% of the trailer going to boeing up in auburn, wa. and the 4th is 2 pallets on front going to spokane. Instead of loading the first 2 stops on either the front of the trailer or the rear of the trailer where i can easily undo my tarps and hand them the package, they decided to load them right smack dab in the middle where my 2 tarps overlap . so i get to break down an entire side of both my tarp just take a 5 pound package off and then button it up and then take off the 60lb package. Super annoyed i dont have a connie, i get jelous of those connie puller guys sometimes, Hey atleast i get 15 dollar stop pay LOL

The neat thing about my job is the variety of trailers I get to pull: flatness, step decks, lowboys, conestogas, and dry vans. I agree that conestogas are the cats meow for many loads. I have had to break out the tarps about once a month on open decks, but usually the reason the customer wants something tarped is to hide it from prying eyes.
I delivered to the military depot this morning in Tracy, using a flatbed. Then boogied up to our terminal to swap to a dry van, go back to Tracy and picked up a load for Camp Pendleton. Made it to the main gate with minutes to spare on my 14 after the usual stop and crawl through LA. Then used PC to drive a few miles on base to shut down for the night. Temperature should drop into the 50's, it's quiet, no chopper training tonight.
I tell you what, the military sure has some beautiful country on their bases.Last edited: Jul 31, 2019

Well they built a taco hell in back of the McDonald's in Page, and destroyed all the truck parking.
And they added a driveway to the Maverick, destroying it's truck parking.
So I'm parked at a jewelry stand on 89.
No baked potato now, but there is a ribeye, and monster salad with Balsamic.

Conestoga are the ones that look like a van with soft sides that can roll up or slide? I was behind one of them today that had all the buckles down by the deck flapping in the wind on the right side, there was probably 3 of em that were hooked up lol. I don't know if that's okay but it looked like it was beating the #### out of the straps/ends.
