Day of the Dead (Nov. 2nd) is a big deal in Los Angeles. The weekend before, it was a blast to go to Olvera Street in downtown L.A. and see and eat everything.

On Nov. 2nd, there is a hugenormous cemetery above LAX, on the east side of the 405 (?) that would have 100s or 1000s of people having a family picnic there to honor their ancestors.

Passed up the $7 bacon at Kroger yesterday. I had to go to Walmart. Had an unknown script to pick up. Got two of the last three bacons left. The formerly 3.79, now $4 something. Same as last time. Low sodium only. No regular. I had one in the freezer already. So I go to the pharmacy, picking up mystery meds. It’s my statin cholesterol pills. Oh the irony of it all. While ringing it up, I had to comment. The girl and I both agreed a life without bacon isn’t worth living anyways. A few quick pointers on how to cook it, and I’m out of there. Got some big extra large eggs at Kroger. Just got finished with my tradition of cooking Sunday Breakfast. By the way, Low sodium bacon sucks. Walmart brand Great value isn’t living up to its name. May have to switch.

 

We went to Sam's and became extremely depressed when we learned that there was no more Scott TP. Had to get the Sam's brand. Uh oh.

 

Is it just me, or do kids today not pull any tricks on Halloween? No more toilet paper in trees. No soaping windows. No potatoes in exhaust pipes. Guess today's kids are too distracted to have some fun.

Known as Devils night, the night before Halloween. Supposedly originated in Detroit. The TP and soaping Windows became rotten eggs at houses, then became burning garages, them became burning empty houses. I remember sitting in my backyard with the garden hose in the late 80s listening to the sirens. Guarding my house and garage. A recent Angels night initiative, with residents patrolling the streets seems to have helped some. I suspect with social media, kids aren’t as bored as they once were.
