PIE...also known as Power Isn't Everything. We experimented with hauling tanker triples from Portland to Pasco and put our high horsepower trucks on it. They were 290's with ten speeds. The experiment didn't last very long.

In my best Jeff Foxworthy imitation- if you can remember when a 290 was a big horse you might be an old fart.

Moving to the wintering grounds— pretty early— might be a sign

LOL...Remember when Cummins came out with the 350? If you bought a new Pete with that engine they'd put this neat emblem on the side of the hood. ...Powered by Cummins 350. Drivers were proud of that.
We had a gypo hauling with us that couldn't shut up about his 350 so one night some of the guys snuck out and replaced his Powered by emblem with one from a Briggs and Stratton lawnmower. He wanted to fight the whole crew but we told him he had to mow the lawn first. That really set him off.
We stuck his Cummins emblem on the yarder.

Not alot. But enough to make my life easier. I always ask the question if im gonna be at the jobsite when everybody has went home for the day. Ive found most times they are cool with it and will leave the key in the machine for me. 1 less truck they have to unload and i can get on to the next one. But im also delivering to the same people everyday pretty much. Im not sure how effective it would be if I was running over the road again.
I need to just get a moffit on the back of my trailer and cut out the middle man entirely ! :D
