What if it Snows?

Rates not so much till you get to the upper end (43k and up). Can sometimes get a slight boost then because the super truckers can't haul it with their overweight rigs. Once you get above and 45/46k you are going to need spreed or drop axles and then they have a good excuse to pay more.

Actually had one broker ask for a discount on a light weight load. But that was after I pushed the rate up on his heavies, so we had a history.

 

Hauling a food bank load. 2k delivers tomorrow 300 miles away.

 

Generally the heavy stuff gets Brokered out by Carriers. Less fuel economy. Keeping the good stuff for themselves. Brokers it’s anyone’s guess. Heavy steady freight usually pays mediocre. Light freight often has a higher value, not always. But many times it pays more than the heavy loads. Just aren’t enough of them. Load Boards are generally the bottom of the barrel no one wants. This loads paying decent. Load of empty Dunnage (pallets). Nice and light.

 

What about running empty? Seems like Deadhead would be high.

This load had a 31 mile DH in the right Direction, going 744 miles, paying $2100. $2.71 per mile w/DH all miles. Not the greatest, but not much Freight available. Just glad to get out of here.
