I’m pretty sure a DD15 kit costs about double than a 12.7. About $3700, heads around 50% higher at $3000. An inframe should only cost $17000-$20000 tops including new turbo, not sure how much they are. Parts are more expensive, but Labor isn’t. I’ve got a great Mechanic for overhauls. He’s done a lot of them over the last 14 yrs. All makes. His price is fair. He takes a little longer, usually 3 weeks, because he only works 7-8 hrs a day. 5-6 days a week. He won’t supply or order parts. You have to have everything, or at least have the parts on the way before he’ll start. I had the extra work done basically for free. Since the radiator, fan, damper, front covers and a/c bracket had to come off anyways. I held off on all that stuff. Having dealt with Cat of Michigan, WW Williams and Freightliner on previous Trucks. I’ve learned it’s more about the actual Mechanic than the Shop. The work will stand up if it’s done right. No need to pay $30-$40k trying to buy peace of mind. Especially if the Trucks not worth much more than $40k. Better off trading up, before needing an OH.
