What if it Snows?

Michigan had the lowest sales tax in the Country. In 1994 Proposal A raised it from .04 to .06 %, and cut homestead property taxes by 33%. Proposal A also capped Property tax increases to the annual inflation rate, or 5% annually, whichever is less. It’s a good change. Keeps old folks from being taxed out of a home that’s gone up, especially lake front or areas that have experienced a lot of growth. Unprepared food has always been exempt. So are my purchases of parts for the Truck, something we finally got around the same time. Just in time to buy my first Truck. We were losing Truck sales to Indiana.

 

Funny thing is If I drive a mile or so up the road I can see 2 of the top 5 on a somewhat clear day. Rainier and St Helens.

And yes I would rather snuggle up to the upwind side of a volcano than any suburban sprawl. Lower probability of casualties.

For what it’s worth, State property taxes paid are once again deductible from Federal Income taxes.
