My Dad had a 1965 450 four. Pretty sure it was the first 4 cyl. Also think they were Dohc. It was the biggest bike Honda made in 65. My Dad raced it brand new, won a bunch of trophy’s. He had just about the the only Honda at the drag strip. I think he particularly enjoyed being the Underdog. His friend had a Triumph Bonnieville. I think it was a 650. I’ve got pictures somewhere. Driving Me crazy that I can’t find them.

I have no idea what my Indian would do the 1/4 mile in, but it wouldn't be quick.
But it makes me happy anyway.
Doesn't seem that Indian was even slightly concerned about making the Chieftain Dark Horse quick, just a good solid ride.dwells40, austinmike, Dale thompson and 6 others Thank this. -
A few minutes spent on the internet, shows times from 12.9 to 13.3 seconds for my bike in the 1/4.
Slow for a street bike, but still respectable.austinmike, Dale thompson, lilillill and 3 others Thank this. -
I learned something today, the hard way. After topping my coolant, Truck started and ran fine. Went to leave out today, and it wouldn’t start. I have a code 46, low ecm battery voltage. I’ve had this as an active code for years. The only difference now is that it’s an active shutdown ( flashing code) I’ve asked different techs about it. All say the same thing. Internal battery is weak, might run for years, might not. I have a new battery. Been waiting till I send the ecm for tuning to let them solder it in. I had it apart and chickened out, afraid I’d damage my circuit board. So here I sit. Cancelled my Loads. Not good. So doing further research, amongst the bad advice and misunderstandings, I find the truth. The code refers to Battery voltage from starting batteries. Has nothing to do with the internal ecm battery. Internal battery is only for retrieving stored codes, primarily when the main batteries are disconnected. Like a back up battery on an alarm clock. The battery connections include a single ecm power wire with a 5 amp fuse. I’ve known about that for years. It also has 2 more wires, that supply power to the ecm. I had no idea the other 2 were for the ecm. I figured alternator or starter maybe. So bottom line, a bad battery connection or terminal at ecm, possibly a broken wire in between is the culprit. I recently checked the battery terminals for looseness and corrosion. ecm plug was clean when I had it off, during the inframe. Hopefully I’ll figure it out tomorrow. I’m guessing it’s a broken positive wire, right at the battery. New ring terminal for all 3 wires into one, or for the other 2 wires for ecm ground. All go to the ecm 5 socket connector.

It's a cruiser. Pretty respectable for one of them.
I did low 12s on my cat 750, when I had it. This is like in 2004. A katana is a dog of a sport bike.
I'm up too early. Can't drive for another 2+ hours. At QT in south Carolina. Lots of rolley dog options.Last edited: Dec 18, 2021
