So it needs fancy ham to make them right
It's like they are trying to make designs.
So I talked with a farmer last night. Fertilizer is way up. He said an acre of land was $300ish and now will be a $1000 to fertilizer. For corn. He does 1500 acres of corn. So 1.5 million and isn't sure what to do. He also has his authority and trucks on the side to get away from the family business, when it's slow.JolliRoger, LoSt_AgAiN, homeskillet and 6 others Thank this. -

So it's only 325% more. Corn and farming are overated anyway.
Just call Uber eats.JolliRoger, LoSt_AgAiN, Rideandrepair and 4 others Thank this. -
The $5.45 forecast for 2021 is $1.00 per bushel higher than the 2020 forecast of $4.45 per bushel
Illinois: 214 bushels per acre for corn.
214×4.45= 952.3. so fertilizer was 32% of sale price.
Granted he was from Indiana, I think yield
Would be similar.
So now a price of 1600 is needed.Last edited: Dec 22, 2021

I know I should just shut up about complaining about our poor farmers. But, maybe because of the increase in fertilizer cost will make them produce less so just maybe our federal government won’t have to subsidize them as much this year.Last edited: Dec 22, 2021

. Just end the ethanol mandate in gasoline and let the market decide how much corn we really need. but but Dale that’s crazy talk some people get hurt in a free market. Oh crap that’s right property owners should be guaranteed a profit.dwells40, InTooDeep, JolliRoger and 8 others Thank this.

The original idea surrounding subsidies was to provide regional security in terms of food products. The Great Southwest shouldn't become totally dependent upon the Great Southeast...bad for national security and all of that. It's become so twisted now with huge, corporate landownership and the tax havens they provide. Our tax code certainly hasn't been revised with our family farms in mind. I know, I know, there are massively large family farms as well, but they're outliers.
