I love Nola. My mom side is French from Indiana, Illinois, Canada. Not the south. I go to I-10 in Louisiana. I loves those people, they are like the rednecks that I grew up with, but a particular kind. I'm also Slovakian (my mom's father) and Irish my dad's parents. Can you speak Creole? I was told, not sure if it's true. They wouldn't associate with other people, just kind had thier own group. My grandmother could speak French, fluent

Mom spoke a little French, but was a mix of French, German and God only knows. Dad is Italian (his father 100% dropped off the boat via Ellis Island never bothered to become an American citizen), Dad's mom was Irish, English, Dutch and who knows what else on was pulled out of the swamps on his mom's side. Both sides of the family save for my grandpa have been in the city for many, many generations. Dad became an engineer and worked the oil patch, and I was born and raised in Texas and identify as such. However, I listen to my people's music about 10 hours a day with WWOZ playing Jazz, Zydeco and French ballads of lost love in the background.
