In the old days of manual cable wire range change. We would disconnect the wire cable, sit in the seat and mentally map out a reposition of the lever. Try to get it to be close to your leg/thigh and between hip joint and knee location. You could then ride with hand on knob hanging in a more natural position, but in easy reach of the rest of the H pattern. Then remove the knob; slip a joint of stove pipe over it for heat/sparks shield. Have the shop man reach in with the torch and heat where you said, as you positioned to you and f and b as he heated. Usually two bends put it where you wanted it.
Weird doings in the old days to customize. In 1953 trucks did not come with any radios. Deal was you buy one at say a Western Auto, and an antenna.
The shop would install. You quit, you could take your radio. Leave the antenna, or pay for shop to fill the holes. Came off road in 1958 and left the radio in it.Dale thompson, 77fib77, dwells40 and 7 others Thank this. -
Worlds best sister and I, are watching South Park. It is a rerun from a few years ago, the episode about Amazon.
So out of nowhere she says to me " The front steps on that house are sloped in towards the house, not away like they should be. Water can pool, it could even run into the house in a downpour, or snow melting".
Once I stopped laughing, I replied to her. " That is your problem with South Park". Then she began laughing.Dale thompson, dwells40, homeskillet and 7 others Thank this. -

Yep, useless too. Hates that truck. First one had a 525 cat, 18, 3:42. This one had a 525 Cummins emissions engine. Same trans and rears. Did have air on all four corners. Wallowed like a drunk.Dale thompson, Pamela1990, Rideandrepair and 3 others Thank this.

Very interesting day on the Ol I15 corridor — huge Charlie Foxtrot north of Mesquite where they’re fixing a bridge and then one just south of Cedar City all caused by folks that probably grunt and use rudimentary sign language to communicate cause they sure can’t read or understand pictographs spelling out a change in traffic flow
Then there was an Opus sighting on the grade just south of Beaver (you got to blow it up to see it)
Then we started the LDS 100 run about 1500 and missed the rush hour — were on track to beat our previous record of 12 hours and the boys were jacked until the fuel stop in Tremonton when some DS was cleaning up the trash and accidentally threw the keys in the trash can and had to disassemble the contents — 30 minute impact, but the storm was outrun and the boys got over it and are currently chillingFeedman, Dale thompson, 4mer trucker and 9 others Thank this. -
Something lit the sky up a brilliant blue at 4:30 this morning just outside of Atlanta. I forgot to pull the video off my dash cam. Freaky AF.Dale thompson, dwells40, 4mer trucker and 9 others Thank this.

A bit closer to me, and lower, would be perfect.
Not being as tall as an average man, likely makes my wants different than most.
If they build it for say the average 5'10 person, then its not ideal for my 5'5 height.
But those extremely tall shifters look so awkward.Dale thompson, dwells40, shooter19802003 and 5 others Thank this.
