    Same saving grace here as in the afore mentioned Zamboni tank fire. Propane tanks have pop off vent valves, mainly to prevent overfilling with the liquid.
    When over heated in a fire, this valve will open and you will see a tongue of flame (like a massive blowtorch) shooting out about 6 feet from the valve elbow, at the angle the elbow outlet points. At this point, if area is clear, and no other flammables close, just let it burn off. The truck fire was 60 of the 120 bottles popped open and feeding the flames. There was no explosion, just the danger of one. Shrapnel would have been as thick as a fog if exploded.
