Just delivered to Portland or and the receiver refused to take empty pallets plus left trash like plastic and cardboard. Had to find dumpster and spent 2,5 hours to solve this problem. What you guys do in this situation?

Pallets.... at my next pickup I tell them they can have them for free.
Plastic and other small misc packaging junk....sweep out, bag it, garbage can or dumpster.
Sometimes truck stops will have a pallet place contact where they want the pallets. Rebuild and resell them I guess. I've no idea really. I tell whoever will take them to take them home and burn them.

Pull forward 3 feet. Fetch big broom. Sweep.

Save pallets for favors at next shipper. They will take em free in exchange for something useful to me like immediate docking.

Thank you. But I’m just asking if the customer has the right to leave trash in my trailer? The amount they left today you can’t just put in trash bags. (I just don’t know how to upload the pictures here) Isn’t it a part of the load and they have to take care about it?

I always love it when the receiver leaves pallets on the trailer; I sell them and pocket the cash.
The trash, I put in a dumpster at some truckstop.

I’m not sure if every shipper would be happy to take free pallets. And if not you can get into trouble after you got to facility, cause they can refuse to load you. I like your idea of sweeping the trash out. But is it legal?

Is it so easy to sell it? If you drive local probably, but if you OTR, the time you spend on finding the place to get rid of it not always worth the cash value of pallets. What can you make for it by the chance?

If I were to tell you they had no right how would you fix it? Call the marshals? The police? The FMCSA? Not trying to pick a fight with you. Just trying to get you to understand it don't matter if they can do it or not. Like long waits at warehouses it is one of the banes of the industry. As suggested, see crap on the floor sweep it out. I actually have been able to sweep right on the dock. Hand, don't make life harder then it needs to be.

I had a little book of addresses where places would buy pallets. When I switched to tankers I gave the book to a friend of mine that pulls reefers.
I usually sold them for $2.50 or $3.00 each. I averaged $100 - $200 weekly selling pallets. I pulled reefers, so pallets were easy to get.
