What is a reasonable amount one can make with a flatbed weekly through brokers?

It all depends on market you run, if you know how to get the most money or not, of you are willing to do oversize, do partials etc etc.

Had many $10-$12k weeks in stepdeck.
Gave it up because Van paying the same without busting my butt

Shoot for 1200 a day min. Everyone's operation is different depending on local, regional, or otr. If your gonna stay somewhat local like what we do sometimes it makes more sense to bounce back empty 3-5 hours to grab another good paying load than to screw around trying to find something coming back. Last week for example i would of been better off coming right back home and grabbing another load from the same shipper and doing 3000 in 2 days compared to 2850 in 2 days. Even tho the rate per mile was better i could of had an extra 150 and less wear and tare on the truck just running loaded 1 way. Don't get lost in the rate per mile. Look at the big picture

Exactly. Most of my loads for those 3 weeks were very light. I ran with my front axle in the air all but maybe 5 days in that time. Had a couple loads that paid stupid money. 20 ft long conduit, 2 stops and less than 10k total weight. They needed it right now and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Loaded late and delivered early next morning. Spent less than $1k in fuel for that whole week. Win! You have to figure in weight and mpg too.

It is going really well right now and lots of fun.

Tons and tons of different loads IMO...all kinds of freight which keeps it fun.
