Truck Ordered Not Used, means you agreed to ship a load with a carrier, they showed up to pick up the load but it was not shipped for some reason, i.e, product shortage, cancelled order, etc, but you did not cancel the carrier before their truck arrived at the shipper or within the time frame allowed per the contract.
This is a common charge that allows the carrier to recover a portion of the revenue they spent getting their truck to the shipper and now needing to reposition the truck to take another load.Highway_Executive, deviouseve and xlsdraw Thank this. -
The truck doesn't have to be at the shipper for you to still have to pay a TONU ... what is the difference if it had already deadheaded 50 miles and is 25 miles to the shipper and you call and cancel and say you aren't giving him anything?
However, if you decide that is how you will base who you will pay TONU to and who you won't, your carrier pool will continue shrinking ...deviouseve and 281ric Thank this. -
I understand now. I could many drivers getting very upset with this (I know I would be).
Thanks guys for answering. -
if the customer/broker booked your truck and then cancelled, you have lost the opportunity for that truck to earn what it usually does on a daily basis. You ave lost a whole day of productivity . So you should get a TONU .. Truck Ordered Not Used.
You decied if your whole day is worth $200 or $500 or what not. -
thanks all -- it makes sense now.
