That all depends on the type of bills that you have, do you have to send money home every week?are you married? do you have children? House note? Car note?Child support? can you save money?can you save a lot? (What's a lot anyway?) only YOU know that bud.

    good luck nonetheless

Are the trucks climate-controlled when you stop to sleep?

The first year your paychecks will be 500 to 600 after that you can do better 900 to 1300 a week depending who you can get on with and how good your record is . And you also can't spend those big checks when they come in sometimes freight gets slow usually a couple times a year and you will need those saveings .

    Bunk Heaters are fairly common.
APUs not too much...in those case you would have to idle, or just pick a Co that has APUs.

Try waking up in the middle of the night thinking you rolled the truck over.

recruiter for who? I want that job. I got a #### good gig and wasn't turning numbers like that until into my second year.......i'm home every weekend and have a rolling average of around 2800 miles a week, sometimes more sometimes less but it averages out there......and get a nice bonus to run northeast and still wasn't making that kind of take home money until into my second year so i'd say it's a pretty good bet the recruiter flat out lied to you......unless it's one of a few rare exceptions......they are out there but they are not the norm.......he gets paid to get you in the door and in the seat.....those guys are nothing but used car salesmen......you save your most money by not eating out and clipping coupons, going to the grocery store, and taking your food with you.

    A typical week.
A false perception. There is no typical week or even a day.
Especially for OTR drivers. Evey day evey week is different.
Generally the pay the recruiter is telling is gross pay. After taxed its very different.
If we both worked for the same company it would be a different situation for both of us. What's good for you might stink to high heaven for me and vice versa.

This recruiter is blowing some smoke in your butt! Though its POSSIBLE to take home $700 - $900 a week it is highly, highly unlikely! I would say that $400 - $600 is going to be more of a reality. Even those figures are generous! In order to take home $900 a week you would have to be paid $.35 a mile and run 4000 miles a week! First off, no company is going to pay a new driver $.35 a mile and second, 3000 miles is tough for a new driver let alone 4000!

In reality you are looking at about $.30 a mile and running about 2200 miles. Like I said too, even that figure is generous.

Don't believe these recruiters. Call them out on their crap when they say stuff like that! Break it down and do the math for them when they quote you ridiculous figures like this! Make them fell like the lying idiots that they are!

Please bare with me, I am trying to understand this before jumping in. From what I understand now you are out for 2-3 weeks, home for 2-3 days. While you're out you drive/work for 14 hours a day, which comes to 98 hours a week. That would make take home pay $4-$6 an hour, much less than minimum wage. Why would anyone work for that? Not to mention the expenses that come with living in a truck. The recruiter is telling me $.36-$.41 a mile which I guess is BS. What am I missing here? And how much time is really spent re-fueling, loading, unloading, etc.? For the time spent in the truck 2000 miles does not seem like much ground covered.
