CAXPT, I will spread the word, I am already giving advice to the newer drivers. I've pulled just about every kind of trailer but flatbed has a hidden almost secret side. I'm not talking the run of the mill big name companies but the nitty gritty hard core side. 14 years otr 2+ flatbed and I just now found it. I knew it was out there and finally found it!

    CAXPT Thanks this.

Sometimes the tarp helps hold the stuff on there.. lol

Another thing with the vee boards, give your tie down straps a twist so they won't flap in the breeze as much... 'cause they WILL loosen up and the wood WILL eat up your straps. Dunno about the fancy plastic ones with straps- alway had home-made wooden ones...

I just twist the straps over the second layer....Be careful not to put more than one twist in a strap...DOT can bite you if they see too many twists in your straps....

Is that why all the youngsters flash a sideways "V" when their pic is taken? They like V-boards!

We call those plastic ones corner plates here.
You see them on every second flatbed.
You guys are grossly overcharged for them , they are just a plastic injection mold.
The prices I see quoted are about 3 to 4 times what we pay.
They also look like the cheap Chinese ones and if that is the case you are being charged at least 6 times more than what we pay.

Plates sound better than "V" or "A" boards.

You actually are better off going "old school" using Vee Boards on felt....If you secure "15's" with corner protectors or "Plates"....Then run through a hot desert...The centers will kick out on the bottom rows that have a stack on them.....
Vee Boards will prevent that because a proper Vee Board places the top board at the edge of the roll....The bottom board then sits center of the rolls ensuring they won't kick out....

The plastic ones are not my favorite.
They are good with loads that are square.
We predominantly use flat beds here followed by tautliners/curtain side trucks so they work well with boxed consumer goods.
Tarping is part and parcel of driving here.
It is actually better to have some bent out of thin galvanized sheeting.

I have an idea of what a V board looks like now but would love to see a picture.

    I don't have picts....And can't find them on Google....

Just imagine two boards of equal dimensions joined together with two 4" wide straps with about 1' to 18" between the boards....
