    ... i cant believe 6 pages of discussion on this subject ... who cares ... you can call me driver , rookie , eastern European etc ... All i care is what i get in the bank at the end of the day ... Some drivers make more than owners ...

    No, it's not. It only means you operate a truck that suppose to be yours.

    I’d say if you can leave the company you work for and take your truck to any other or just park it in your yard, you’re an O/O. If prime allows you to place a few stickers on their truck so you feel like your an O/O while you pay to drive their equipment, you are not.

    speaking to us, no you are not. Speaking legally, according to the fmcsa, yes you are. You fall under the company safety and insurance. When the company reports its drivers to clearinghouse, database, etc you are listed just like anyone else. The company is responsible for you. You’re an employee. When you wreck and hurt people in a wreck at work the company you work for pays. You get a free ride. There is a movement to list o/o as employees and not under 1099. But again, out here on the highways to us, our lingo, you are not a company driver.
