The difference between a truck driver and a steering wheel holder is one likes to drive. There is nothing like a good machine responding to a good driver. any truck driver will tell you that. autos are lighter cheaper and easier but i will never drive one. guys in alaska who are always shifting love them.
what is better MANUAL VS AUTOMATIC?

Driving in northeast city traffic or LA...autos are lovely.
Still glad I learned on a standard. All newbies should. Struggling with a full box up in the hills is priceless. -

I am at fault on this one. My apologies.

Anyone can drive a automatic! Better to learn to drive a manual as not all companies have trucks with automatics.

It's the same reason why gasoline-powered cars never went anywhere in terms of economy for almost 70 years... there was no need.
At $4.00 per gallon for diesel, now things are starting to get worrisome, so they have to start making trucks better running machines. Had they had to push 25 years ago, trucks today would look drastically different.
Then there is the government pushing their mandates... all or most of which exist solely to benefit big business (if they were actually concerned about the environment, they would be developing more efficient running motors, not exhaust "after-treatment").swaggerjacker Thanks this.
