the rest of the stuff i would say is pretty close no matter where u live -
Cali has the second highest corporate tax in the nation....and being an O/O here is nothing short of a major task.....
-
Who pays up to 25% of the gross for taxes, I haven't had to pay taxes in years, I guess I have a good tax man. -
The key is that most O/O's are not incorporated... but "Sole Proprietors".....hence the tax liabilities.....especially in CA.... -
I have never understood why an O/O would Incorporate. Years ago I had some O/O friends tell me I needed to do that and referred me to an attorney I contacted him and he wanted $3500 and said it would save me all this money a year. Well thank god I didn't do it and just found a good accountant that knows trucking and came from a trucking back ground plus he is here at home, no mailing my stuff or waiting on some dumb### 1,000 miles away in a cubicle to return my call. You just add a lot more paperwork when you incorporate with one truck.
-
There are tax advantages and also #1 and I can't stress this point enough....
You Have Less Exposure.....
If you have your name on the door...that is an invitation for anyone to sue you...Even if your tire kicks up a rock and chips their windshield.....
You just caused them "mental stress" and they'll never be able to work again because "That big, bad, truck ruined my day".....
These people btw...don't see "Big John's Transportation" on the door..." They only see these.....
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ -
I know you don't need an attorney to incorporate but I did call him because I had some questions.
If you are a one truck operation and you are the driver they are going to sue you. You can take those corporation papers and wipe your butt with them because that is about all they will be good for. Incorporating is not going to stop anybody from suing. They are going to sue the company you are leased to and you because your the driver.
Know if you are running more then one truck and have drivers then yes I would incorporate. -
So what??????
I'm being sued right now......
The friggin' beyatch hit my trailer trying to pass me in a curve on the right side....
Her company fired her for hazardous driving...
Funny...when we gave the statements to the PD..... she told the cops she was fine......
Oh well...This is the third time in my life I have been sued......
It ain't no big deal...... -
there are rules and regulation govern LLC and Inc,and if u don't follow them to the letter then it's all useless
