They assume that because even they know there's no owner operators that actually live in CA (probably illegal there) and you'll pay them for a load to get out! :biggrin_2559:

    Fuel Surcharges....
    Detention Time...
    Stringing Pay...
All things from the forgotten past.......

We're expected to run 1500 miles in less than 2 days; and at less than $1/m TTT

Because the NAFTA trucks can run that same distance in a day for half the rate....:biggrin_2558:...and they won't complain......

i'm new here & not many of u know of me,but i'm an intrastate carrier and i get $1.50 to 2.50 per/mi loaded,i usually have to dh 50 miles to load. i think the longer the miles, the cheaper their rates.

    True.....
There was a load posted from L.A. to Northern NY for $.86/m tarped, today...and I'll bet a NAFTA O/O picked that stinker up like it was gold.....

But I have seen $1/m loads with tarps posted to go from Rialto to Long Beach....About 60 miles....an all day deal with traffic....

I agree I stay out of the crappy places as much as possible and most places are crappy right now. That 2.20pm load was going to il and the one on the truck now on the way back is going to ga at 2.50pm very good week for me both loads were 1000 miles give or take. This is very tough to do consistently atleast for me but im going to try everytime. I will add I have tried that tring to run for what the market was paying and just try to make it in miles didnt work for me. Im not rich or even getting rich I do all my own maintance I find all the loads for my truck personally and run under my authority. I wont tell everyone how im getting these rates but I will say that I take my time I set my truck up lite tare. And I work like hell finding loads all the time. My trucks usually have 2 pu and 2 drops.

Well in the reefer business, things are going to get worse for us. I was recently told by a Prime driver that they have experimented with a tractor trailer combo that will allow them to haul 50K in the box. Now the tractor only has a 36" bunk but this is the scheme this company iis looking at to corner. Now we all HATE the NAFTA trucks, I think that is pretty much agreed, but when these big companies start this stuff with loading 50K in a reefer, it will make our lives once again that much more difficult. Think it won't happen? Look at all the shippers that demand a 53' wagon for 30' of cargo. I was at Nestle yesterday and watched them turn away an O/O with a 48'..... I would love nothing more than to switch my fleet to 48' but it is just not a wise move to do though logic states it is, simply because I rarely get a load past the 48' mark and how much weight does the 53' have over a 48'..... Dumb azzhat bean counters and NAFTA are gonna ruin it for all....:biggrin_25510:
