If it's not cool to you, dont get one. That's the easy solution to the issue. Being a "hater" and belittling something because you don't like it doesn't generally change other peoples opinion about the subject, it changes their opinion of you, the voice.

I don't have a stretched out Pete, and that's no coincidence.

Not belittling anyone with my comment of the 310" wheelbase and 34" sleeper I can well afford 1 if I wanted 1 or a fleet of them , just pointing out my opinion of how unpractical they are :)

Wasn't specifying you Flatbed. Also it's not a matter of what it costs- if you want to run a specific type of equipment and can make money doing it: do it. You don't need to look cool to make money. Nothing wrong with running equipment you think is cool.

Now a streched COE with a bus type articulating frame, all wheel steering, just think of the possibilities.

sometimes it's not about the looks sometimes it's about bridging overweight loads with fewer axles. The more distance you have between the front axle and the last axle on the trailer means that you could bridge more weight as long as you could balance it correctly. Most of ours are 260"while mine is a 275 inch wheelbase sometimes I need even a little more. The small sleeper is probably to save on weight. we are building one now but will have a 300 + inch wheelbase we are actually moving the rear axles back about 4 feet used to be an old logging truck. not everyone limits themselves to 80,000 pounds

Hey far from a Hater. To each their own is my Motto.

Just seems like you give up a lot of maneuverability and aerodynamics having the trailer set so far back if you aren't running a flatbed.

There's a lot more to trucking than just aerodynamics. Not all of us are in a position that we absolutely need to get the best fuel mileage. I'm sure getting 8+mpg feels good but having to do it in a plastic space ship is not fun for me. My truck has a 312" wheelbase. I'm sure I'll get somewhere where I just can't figure out a way to get in to a customer and when that happens I'll have to figure it out. Luckily I don't bump docks very much. I drive because I freakin love to drive. I pick my loads based on (in this order) 1. Where it's going 2. What is it 3. How much money. I need to make a certain amount each run to cover expenses but I really just go where I want to. I want the best fuel mileage I can get, so if 5.5mpg is the best I can get, then so be it.
