Can you share the name of this co.? A buddy has an 86" studio and would probably like this.

BTW, I'm running a 300" WB with a 90" Double Eagle slpr. with a 48' step. I could see some issues pulling a van and bumpin' a dock. So far (since '05) I've not had any serious issues getting where I needed to. One problem no one has mentioned is ground clearance with a long WB. I need to be cogent of speed bumps, rr tracks, ect. and dragging my fuel tanks. There's a dock in La Mirada that is the type you back down into, clearance is about 1/4" under the tanks.

Wanna' see a LWB, youtube Wheelbase 351, somehow this dude gets around.

Any O/O needs to do better than "cover expenses". The difference between 5.5 mpg and 8 mpg is about $30,000 out of your pocket every year. That $30,000 will buy decent health insurance and will fund a retirement plan. Don't wait to plan your retirement until the doctor says you're done driving. Every year older you get past 40, it gets harder to pass that physical. Some can drive well into their 70's. Most can't or plan ahead.

My 2001 Blue and gray Pete I had stretched to 301. Ran it all over dragging a 53ft van and had to work at getting into some places but as I would tell people it just makes you a better driver.. I also pulled new trailers from MFG to dealers with it for a few years. You don't whip into a pilot at 2am and try and find parking that's for sure.. It is painted white now and I use it now to haul custom cars to shows so don't have to worry about bumping docks.

Having a stretched truck isn't for everyone but the ride is 2nd to none and just having a nice ride is priceless. Just a matter of opinion.

    Only if you're grinding out 200,000 miles/year.

I agree. I got into places working for Lonestar with my 265" long nose pete and a 53' spread axle while guys who had sba freightshakers were having trouble.

I think once someone learns how to drive a longer wheelbase truck, you can maneuver it much better than some who have shorter wheelbase but may have not been driving as long

Thanks for the help. I had no idea! Here's the deal. You don't have to worry about me. Trucking is what I do. I don't have a family, mortgage payments, car payments or debt besides trucking related bills. I have great health insurance, paid off pickup truck, boat and other toys. I am able to do very well with my 5.8mpg because I'm not stretched thin because of debt. I'd like to make 30k more each year but not at the cost of having to drive anything less than what I'm currently driving.

If you want to make that 30k in an aerodynamic truck, then go for it! That's why they make trucks like that. I on the other hand would not be happy in one of those trucks.

I have been told from the day I turned 21 and started driving that there was a good chance that I would fail. I did z L/P from Schneider when I was 23 and paid that truck off. I bought my second truck and ran that for two years and sold it. This is my first new truck and trailer. I think I'm doing pretty well in an industry where the majority of drivers are twice my age and going out of business everyday. Now I have screwed up, some of them pretty big, but I have succeeded after 9 years out here trucking. So I can afford to spend more $$$ on fuel and turn out just fine.
