It is very hard on a family, but two or three weeks out and then 3-4 days off is much easier to plan.
If you do it that way then schedule to be home 24-36 hours before your appointment time.
The company prefers to pick up the next load as close to where the last load was delivered. So sometimes there is a delay getting one driver his next load compared to others.
Many of our company drivers said, "never pull to XXXXX town on a monday (east coast) you will sit a day or three before your next load. But I have a hazmat endorsement and my next load was usually preplanned for me before I delivered the one I was pulling, because I had that endorsement.
