That simple. -

Years ago I had a whip on my Jeep. It got out a ways, for sure. And when I started driving I had to ask the question "Can I put whips on here?" After the old guy quit laughing, he said "Hell No".
Sure sounded good to me . -

I've been using this same set up for 31 years.
-Cobra 29LTD Classic Citizens Band Radio/stock microphone
-18ft of coax.
-4ft Francis antenna (requires no adjustment).
-SWR meter w/instructions.
I can hear way farther than I can transmit.
But I have had conversation up to twelve miles away.
L14 is turned up for 12 watts of transmit. VR5 is turned up for increased modulation/or increased "swing".
"Swing" is the difference in watts your radio produces from the time you depress the button on your microphone and begin to speak, to when your voice reaches it's most forceful point as you pronounce your words into the microphone. -
for got to add "good buddy"............oh the good ol' days!!!!
