My company sure treats me well. I pick up and deliver on time, they direct deposit my check every Friday, they leave me alone. If there is a problem, they fix it. What more could I ask for?

Ain't nobody lining up to hump furniture locally everyday.
There not gonna let you go anywhere.
    Your gonna have to quit.

Welcome to trucking, where 80 percent of the companies
    Are pure scumbags and liars.

Trucking companies don't change they way they operate
    To please drivers.
You have to find the one that fits your needs.

^^^^^^^^^ This is the answer ^^^^^^^^^

    listen to Chinatown
Start applying for jobs at other companies .

if you want to carry furniture across the Parking lot and to the third floor for a living , be my guest. It would have to pay 5x what regular driving jobs pay to get me to do it .

Which is why they don’t want you to leave .

There are currently many $100,000 a year trucking jobs unfilled. There are numerous reasons for some of the unfilled job openings at high paying companies and some of the drivers working for sub par wages may not want to do what it takes to get the high paying jobs. There absolutely is a shortage of “qualified drivers” who can get past minimum driving experience, drug free, past stable employment and safe driving records who can fill those jobs offering the high pay.
If there wasn’t a shortage of qualified drivers the numerous $100,000+ a year companies, who years ago required 10-15 years experience to get hired, wouldn’t be offering training programs currently. I agree with you that excellent pay is the bottom line, but it still won’t solve all the problems companies are currently facing.

The companies I am referring to who I call good paying companies may not be good jobs to all drivers, but they all potentially pay $100,000 plus a year. Most are not piece of cake jobs, but that is why the good money comes in. UPS, Fed Ex Freight, ABF, WalMart, Dayton Freight, Old Dominon, Estes, Jack Cooper, Cassens, Yellow, and many other companies nationwide have openings. The bottom feeder jobs still exist for many reasons and I don’t know why someone chooses to work for them with what some consider good jobs open, but it is a big world and not a one size fits all approach that works.

Do food service drivers usually need a doubles/triples endorsement?

Tangential: Should I get my doubles/triples, if February 6 is the last chance to get it just by passing a 25-question written test?

I would get the doubles/triples endorsement. EVERY new driver ought to get the required General, Combo, Air Brakes plus Tanker, Doubles/Triples, and probably HazMat if they can afford the $200-ish in fees. You don't know st the start where in the industry you will find your spot. Every endorsement is one hurdle you move out of your way. Endorsements maybe cost $20-ish and a few hours of time. I study for the tests at TruckerCountry.com. They have 10 versions of each endorsement test. I chose the Classical Test versions. Read the first question, don't answer any question, submit your test. This will give you the answer key with the right answers. To study, read each question and then read only the correct answer. NEVER READ A WRONG ANSWER. Go through each test until you are always scoring at least 90%. On test day you just look for the familiar answer. Don't try to learn all the important details from the test. You learn the info from doing it.

Feb 7, 2022 requirements only apply to Passenger, School Bus, and HazMat endorsements. Tanker and Doubles/Triples don't require any classroom training, just a 20-30 test on the computer.

So after I get the endorsement I can go straight into hands-on learning with doubles?

Well, I got the news tonight that I am now Atlas qualified. We'll see what that means as time goes on, I suppose.
