The more gravy a dedicated run is, the cheaper it gets. 5 days a week sleeping in your bed with decent miles? If you get this run, you're going to have to go above and beyond to keep it. That may mean ordering pizza on Fridays for the shipping department, buying them beer at the local bar or whatever.
As far as your expenses go, if your operating a truck like a business, anything in your personal household should be covered by driver pay. If .40-50 CPM works, great. I know this load would go for about $1.60 RT down here in FL in a van. Other areas of the country or situations can be much stronger.

Is the customer looking for service, or price, because rarely do you get both. What's the current carrier doing making them shop for a new one or is this a new run altogether. If it's a new run, and you have a relationship with the customer, or if they are looking for better service , it's much easier to bid better rates. If they are just shopping price, they're going to do the same thing to you when your contract is up.
Good luck, this is what every o/o dreams of. I hope it works out for you. Unfortunately, nobody here can give you an accurate bid without knowing the details that can give away your customer.

Semantics, drivers pay comes from cost per mile.

Well got more info today as well as actual addresses. A few more miles than I was told at first pushing the rate down under $1.90 for all miles. No thanks I'll stick to what I'm doing

I gave a quote last week on a dedicated lane, low miles (no more then 250 a day) guessing over half the day would be spent at shippers and receivers waiting to be loaded and unloaded. I quoted $1000 a day.

    Runs Monday-Friday.

`nope its accounting and putting everything in its proper place. driver pay contributes to cost per mile, but personal bills should fall under the driver pay

in my operation i don't like when rates are anything less than around 6.00 per loaded mile but im empty 50% of the time and then have some additional out of route miles getting too and from a place to sleep for the night and too and from home when i go home above that 50% empty also repair costs are high and 80k lbs is light.

but basically at the end of the day of being out in the truck running all day burning fuel wearing on tires ect i need to see at least 1k per day min. if it is only 1k day it needs to be a low millage low fuel burn day. really need to be 13+ per day most of the time anything under 1k per day by the time you calculate expenses its not worth it.

every operation is different however. really need to look at your operation know your operating cost and how much you need to make profit after all expenses are paid and submit your bid if you get it great if not there other work to be done and other loads to haul.

You're right. I guess what gets me is when you see someone post a low operating cost per mile and you just know there is something(s) important missing. It's like they're operating a truck but not for pay.

I would run it for $1000 per trip with fuel a fuel surcharge at today's prices, that way you will be covered when fuel goes back up.
