At my current employers, we have a military 1967 FWD fuel truck, and still running strong. Our next oldest truck is a 1987 Rampmaster with a 1986 Volvo tractor, and a 1987 Tank. Our water truck and turdhurst is even older.

No not too bad. You just had to work with them a little to get them going. My grandfather refused to drive anything else. The boss bought 4 brand new Internationals in the late 70s and told him to pick the one he wanted and he told the boss to keep all 4. He loved that ol gasburner.

Had a 1976 C-60 Chevy single axle gas burner, 427 w 5 speed trans. and a 2 speed rear.Shifted from fifth low, to fourth high , then to fifth high. I loved that little truck, made me a pile of money:Transportation cost. On a flat stretch of road, with a light load, it would pass some of the " large cars' of the day:Rocket:.Hills ? forget about it. We would tape a printed box over the rear vent door of an MT reefer, open the vent , and it looks like the trailer was loaded with boxes of something. When I passed someone, they would see the vent door open with a box visible ,think the truck was loaded, and scratch their heads wondering how that gas job was so fast.Spent a whole summer hauling melons up the east coast following the season. No sleeper, laid down across the full seat and slept. That was how we did it back then.

The first truck I drove OTR in 1981 was a 1968 Diamond Reo, 270 Cummins 5 speed with a 36 inch craw thru bunk, no A/C, no power steering.
The truck is still running to this day, but its now more or less a yard truck.

Back in the day this was my largecar........Actually my first largecar was a 1988 international cabin over with a 9 speed kitty cat and spring ride. That thing was a ----- to move around in and that bunk was crazy but I did alot of trailer trucking in that bus. One of my first trips I had to bob tail to pick up my trailer and it was raining, I was coming up on a traffic light on a 4 lane and I was a pretty good ways from the light and hit the brakes to slow down for the light that was changing and ended up doing a 360 and ended up in the emergency lane on the other side of light.

mid 70's ford louieville 6v92 13speed eaton 55mph tacked out. either injection on the dash. Hated it but made good money. Every guy in the fleet had to drive it at one point to get an upgrade. Still see the truck on the road, but i think it dont go to far from the yard anymore.
