I didn’t read anyone answer so it might have been addressed.I would believe the trucks switched lanes probably because they had a to close device on the front of there truck which could sound an alarm to there dispatch’s .computer so to not take the chance of having to have a coaching session with there boss probably decided to switch lanes instead of slowing down till you got far enough ahead
What is the purpose of the driver you are passing switching to the other lane?

I normally just back off a bit when someone passes me until I get a nice cushion. I don't have any of those electronic doodads, but if someone passes me and comes back over way too close, then I am heading left if theres no other traffic there until the jackoff is far enough ahead of me to come back over to the right lane.
Are you allergic or afraid of the left lane until its safe to come back over after you pass someone?
Youngblood (the OP) - you need to grow up and become a truck driver, or shove off and go to work at McDonalds.. It ain't about getting mad about getting passed. It's all about safety. And passing someone don't make you a man or a truck driver.
6 seconds following distance. Don't believe me, ask yer Safety Manager or your insurance company. Do what you described above to me, don't worry, I might not call 911, but I will definitely call your Safety Manager.tinytim, firemedic2816, TequilaSunrise and 4 others Thank this. -
I would really like to know the reasoning behind cutting right in front of the truck you just passed.
Many barely clear my bumper and they head back over. Why?
And many slow down right when they do it.
I am governed at 65, but I can get it up to 67 for up to 30 minutes a day. It is called PassSmart.
So I can pass a barely slower truck a bit more quickly.
But when I pass them I keep it at 67 for some time to gain some room between us, then I back it down to 65.
And I do not cut right in front of them when I come back over.
Too often I have to hit the brakes because some bozo going 66 gets 10 feet in front of me and comes back over, after taking 10 minutes to pass me.
Ya, that driver is saving a lot of time during the day with that 1 mph.tinytim, TequilaSunrise, peteseymour45 and 2 others Thank this. -
Well, sometimes I'll switch lanes for no other reason than the other lane might be smoother than the one I'm in. I won't cut anyone off to do such things, but if I know there's a section of rough road in the right lane ahead of me, I'm avoiding that as best I can. If you're passing me, and I'm coming up on such a spot, and I jump out behind you, it's nothing personal, just me saving my back. Happens a lot on 78 in PA.
SmallPackage and God prefers Diesels Thank this. -
The thing that truly baffles me is when I'm cruising along in the right lane, and I catch up to a car going slower than me. I throw the turn signal on to pass them, and they will jump in the left lane and slow down. After I pass them on their right, they tuck back in behind me. I don't know if they're trying to be courteous, be a prick, or playing traffic cop, but it's baffling to me
lester and Moosetek13 Thank this. -
Rookies bring their rotten habits, developed driving badly in a 4-wheeler, into the truck. Just logging extra days practicing bad habits doesn't make you safer. You are supposed to use your early days as a rookie learning better habits. Instead rookies just spend their rookie time taking 30scat fuel pumps, parking on highway shoulders to save time on the clocks, and avoiding ever backing the truck. Even 20 years of driving like a rookie doesn't equal a better driver. "Practice makes perfect" is a lie. PERFECT practice makes perfect.LoboSolo, Moosetek13, TripleSix and 2 others Thank this. -

The alternative is to slow down and will probably just piss off the trucker behind me, and create more passes and more cut offs.
If the left is clear it's easier to just move over until they get up the road.
If you are getting back over to the right, and they move left, why are you following them back left?Farmtractor9900, God prefers Diesels, 88 Alpha and 1 other person Thank this. -
I am sure I could hit triple digits but why ?
