I drive from Sauk Village, il. To Bowling green , ky.(corvette parts)
Down 1 day 7hr 20min and up the next 5hr 45min so avg about 6 1/2hrs a day. 748 miles round trip...and i live 30min from bowling green.... -

You said, you just accept the load closest to you. How does that work for the better? At the company I’m with the planners/dispatchers always give me loads that maximize my available hours available from recaps. That makes me the most money by efficiently using what time the FMCSA was gracious enough to give me. If you accept loads by proximity, it sounds like you are going to get BS loads. Me, I could care less if it’s a 600 mile deadhead, I get paid all miles. Plus, 60 CPM you mention is nothing to crow about. That is low.
