well then, you tried to put something together in theory.... and all I did was tell you my actual numbers from actually doing it from last month. I stand corrected then. you are obviously way ahead of me, cluck chuck and fisher guy one this. I mean you've thought about it and actually attempted to put it together on paper. We're only out there doing it, who cares what we think. you have models and stuff.

I do some LTL, but I'm with a company where it works out pretty good. We tend to add freight to full loads, or put together loads going west right out of our terminal. The trick is good communcation and a light setup. I love doing LTL personally, it gets you off the interstate into some interesting spots. A lot of the LTL we do goes to dealerships (think green) where you can see it a mile away, and it's right on the main drag.

As long as it pays, I'm there.

I think if you read back beyond one post you'll see I have stated or meant to that I have done the ltl thing when I started and it never was worth while.
I built the models on different types of equipment I don't operate and areas I don't travel. There was never enough money for me after I found out what I should be getting. Those brokers worked me over pretty good first two or three years and landstar was the worst. You can post a gpood month or a week doesn't mean nothing compared to the big picture. I could say I have made over 8000 in a week cause I have but what about the other 51.
Easiest thing I seen of people to do is tell a lie. I can drag out my old rates and show you ltl's only benefit the broker in the end. I hauled enough of them. If you put a 1.00 and a 1.50 and a 1.35 mile piece on your trailer the best you have is 1.50 a mile. figure your time, trouble and the real miles and it's not like you portray it to be. Haul what ever you want makes me difference work yourself for free.

Just because you couldn't make it work for you mcgoo doesn't mean others can't.

You're still not getting the money you should if you make it work or not.
The brokers are still chopping of the amount they want. they're not taking an ltl percentage.
If you let it sit they find money or package it up in decent paying format.
Everyone wants instant results and gratifacation. Once I slowed down and looked a little longer and didn't worry about bouncing home my revenue improved. I'm glad they do the ltl thing that way less competition for me and the loads I want.

You guys are wasting your time arguing with mcgoo, been ther done that in another thread several months ago. He thinks LTL's should all pay truckload rates, even if its one pallet or one box of freight.

    BAYOU and 379exhd Thank this.

If that was the case we would all go by dually's and 32ft goosenecks!!!! I'd love to pay $3,000 a year for insurance and get 14/16mpg pulling one box around at $2/mi I'd be in the money than!!!!

Insurance is based on your driving record, loss run and other factors not whether you pull a gooseneck or not. Liability would cost me the same for
33,000 or 80,000. The only difference in cost is collision and comprehensive due to the vehicle. The way I save money is I've paid my insurance in full at renewal time and not make payments like most do.Didn't you go deer hunting a couple times with your truck? Might be the reason there?
    I have 2- 40.5 gooseneck's You're the one that had a 32 foot gooseneck.
Let's take a trip down memory lane you had a dodge pulling that 32 footer and wasn't making money, then you got that single axle freightliner and pulled the 32 footer for a while. You still wasn't making money. Then you got the step deck with the single axle and STILL WASN"T making money?
Then you bought the tandem cutoff and put them under the single axle and from the pictures you posted it didn't look like your work met DOT standards as far as how frames are to be streched and repaired. I would have been worried if it was me that I'd be put OOS because of that.
then you got the volvo and straight truck and was ,making a milion? Then you're going broke?
The one thing cosistent iis your inconsistency. These are facts most can be found here unless you've deleted them and an archived search will bring up the rest. Not six months ago you's telling everyone here how you's making big dollars hauling "one box" loads get your story straight.
I've hauled many 2.00 or better one box loads and can post pictures if there is any doubt.

I would have thought by now you you'd have gotten what I was talking about?
Answer a queation here" what's a broker's job? Organize freight shipments?
Why not make them do the job they take money from your rates for doing?
Make thjem organize the loads into something thats worth fooling with.
Those of you who can't see this are only working twice as hard as they should.
Here's something for you in pictures.
    2.75 a mile
    DSCN0081.jpg
2.53 a mile I did have to tarp it and help manual unload

    DSCN0088.jpg

    13.89 a mile
    DSCN0114.jpg

3.92 a mile but it was 2 stops.

    DSCN0126.jpg

    2.86 a mile
    DSCN0146.jpg

And I didn't have to take none of that ltl garbage even with deadhead cause I wanted to go home all in miles 1.90 I could've stopped and put something with t any of these I just don't want to help those who cheat us out.
