What is wrong with some people?!?!

Was looking at the load boards, seems that some loads suck but there are some very good paying loads handled by reputable brokers.

So the sky is not falling after all, just bits and pieces.

 

I guess I'm doing it wrong, because ever since I switched to pulling van I haven't seen much in the way of good paying loads, and reputable brokers ? It's just a few who have a reputation based on their own name, not the name of the company they work for. I'll be happy to be pulling step again whenever it decides to warm up...

 

This happens around this time every year. Rates go down because its a slow time of year and brokers know this and lower the rates because they know guys are hungry for work.

 

Found more than one load for dry van today, average 900 miles or more 14 payed more than 2.235 per mile

 

I've had it out with a few of these brokers...telling me that they know a guy that will haul it for their price.
Well then WHY aren't they calling THAT guy?

We've all heard the lame excuses...."I've got all I can put into it". - yet 20mins later I get a call with a better rate.
The Broker claims the shipper stepped up. Yea, ok....

I hear ya man. But one of the problems is some yo-yo will haul for $1/mi (or perhaps less) since they think some income
is better than no income. But if you haul for less than your cost - think about that...YOUR PAYING SOMEONE for the privilege of hauling their crap....thats plain and simple.

Majority of brokers have 30% profit off a load, they may call me a liar or deny it but know it to be true.

 

I suspected 30-50% or even higher as profit....

 

Would love to see your source for this. We looked at buying several brokers last year and best #'s we saw was a little of 16% for the previous year. But the main client they worked with paid 90+ days and they paid withing 15 days. All the others where 8-12%.
