you are definately right by saying if it were easy everyone would do it, ., there is nothing easy about it, and a crystal clear understanding going in to it is to one's advantage.
i still say you folks out there now, both company drivers and o/o should get paid quite a bit more - all the regulations set in place are a great thing, but i think it's time to draw the line on any more of them and the industry should start taking a look at the hard working, regiment lifestyle, and safety minded drivers they have molded through out the years and justly compensate them.
best of luck to you all, and look forward to seeing you out on americas highways.

Well. I am a "new" carrier. My tractor is a 96 and my trailer is a 90. Also the trailer is a 48x96.The reefer is a 2000. I have had only 1 broker deny me a load so far because of my "new" status. I have gotten some decent rates. Not getting rich but I am getting by. As far as averaging 2.50 a mile. Your crazy!!! You can read in my second weeks post what my average for all miles is. You have to factor your deadhead miles into your equation as well. Remember. If the wheels are turning or the engine is idling. It costs money!! At any rate good luck!!

I am not sure if your numbers add up based on 10000 miles a month which is 120k a year fuel is .63 per mile truck payment .s .12pm ins is .05 per mile your driver pay is .32 a mile maint should be about .05 per mile plus some other cost not in there but here is a link to ooid website to help you plug in the numbers to get a real good ideal what your cost are http://www.ooida.com/Education&BusinessTools/Trucking_Tools/costpermile.shtml
