the truckers lounge, a.k.a. "liars lounge". smoking areas i refer to them as "one upper's way". sit out there long enough with just two other drivers trying to one up each other with their war stories and before you know it, one of them can walk on water, and the other created the water on which he walks. lol

    sewerman Thanks this.

my best guess is driving it in automatic, foot to the floor, jake brake on, and using cruise control, loading lumber box style to save time securing/tarping rather than pyramid or flat, and hammering up the hills with the rpms well over 1500 and after cresting the hills, rather than using gravity to get themselves up to speed if the downhill is long/steep enough to do so, they hammer it so they can keep their ego from being crushed. after all no one passes them and they have the fastest 62 mph truck on the road. lol

sewerman and i agree as well. somewhere in here is a post from a new maverick that was with his trainer when his trainer got a letter saying his mpg was below the company goal and then and only then did the trainer and his student when the student was driving cease hammering down. Instructors should be held to a higher standard and my opinion if their mpg is not above the company goal, shouldn't get the quarterly student bonus. It depends on the student of course but we all know there are drivers out there that use the phrase, "thats what my trainer did"
