I shift mine manually 100% of the time. I have NEVER driven my truck in auto, never. Only time I ever drove a Maverick truck in auto was for the road test at orientation.

This trip I am at 8.96! It really helps having that gale-force wind at your back all day long! HA!

There were 30+mph winds the past two days up around the I-70 corridor. That is what we were talking about. I was with it, he was into it evidently.

Sunday beep 7.1 so far this quarter the National Weather Service calls me up in the evening to see which way I am heading so they can forecast the 20+ mile-per-hour winds I will be going into.

I was talking to JC at Little Rock last Monday. On the new performance pay as I see it you can make a lot more points with good fuel mileage than trying to get extra miles by driving fast. They are looking at making a video to explain all the pluses and minuses of the new system. And how to operate to make the most points to increase your bonus pay.

As everyone knows I drive around 58 mile-per-hour. And if we had the new pay system in the last year my bonus pays would have been six cents on two quarters and four cents on the other two. The two quarters that were at four cents were because I took several weeks off.

I think the new pay system will be a great improvement over just fuel bonus pay.

I will keep driving the same way I have for the past 30 years. I will not fault a driver for wanting to drive the speed limit whatever it might be. I like my relaxed driving style. Were I did not have to constantly be working with traffic and changing lanes. And I will keep enjoying the nice bonus pay I get for doing it.

They told me the same thing the day I got 11812. I now have just under 290K on it, and with the exception of each student driving it in auto from 2nd to 10th once, only after they have a feel for manual shifting so they can tell the difference and see that in 11812 anyway, 2nd to 3rd will shift at 1500, 3rd thru 10th at 1300. then throw in the ? how many times a day do you think you shift? An extra 200 rpm doesn't sound like much, but over a quarter, it adds up. AAAAAAAAAAND, in automatic, when coming to a stop, the truck will downshift 10th thru 5th. In manual, the truck will go into "freewheel" mode and the rpms will drop to about 600. You're not "Coasting OOG" (coasting out of gear) which shows up as a violation per second that you do it. You're in freewheel mode. to properly get out of freewheel mode, paddle/pedal-downshift and down accelerator (quicker than you can say it). If its freewheeling, and you give it some pedal, the computer thinks this dumb arse forgot to shift and VROOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!! it'll put you one gear lower than you need to be in and RPMs go sky high.
