If people were able to spell and use correct grammar all the time they would not be truck drivers!! It is one of my pet peeves, there and their, here and hear, the list goes on and on. But who cares? In 10-20 years were not going to be able to read what our kids type anyway.
    OMG, WTF?

You would be better off talking to recruiters if you want a rosy outlook.

Seriously though, what would you expect to read here? The economy is in the toilet. Jobs are being lost in record numbers. Detroit is closing down. I know what you mean but it really shouldn't be a surprise.

You think this site is bad, imagine what an auto workers site or an investment bankers forum looks like :|

I never claimed to be perfect. Grammar was always my weakness. Spelling was my strong point. Keep in mind that was 10 years ago.

    English* insert* :biggrin_25522:

(And I already apologized for that.) You don't have any quirks, I presume? :biggrin_2554:

Nana, I'm not trolling. Open your eyes and see that people saying things similar to my original post. If you don't want to I can link different people and different posts saying the same things. I'm new here. How the hell as I supposed to know to ignore JoeBlow123, MarkyMark943, BuckRodgers000 and JimBond008? Could we also take the nails out of my palms and feet? Maybe pull me down off of this cross? (That's another attempt at humor.) I already apologized for the spelling thing, and this post was just doing it to rib a guy. You know, playfully?

My recruiter doesn't ######## me. He tells me I can get a job. Everyone in the school can get one. Just not to expect something right out of the door, and not expect my dream job. That's a bit different talk than "Stay where you are. There's nothing here for you. You've blown $4k to $9k on a trucking school. You might as well flush your CDL down the toilet." But hey, that was just JoeBlow123 talking before his morning coffee. I guess I should have been more extensive in my research. Sorry to waste your time, people.

I'm just a newbie by no means have I mastered the art,so therefore I come on this site to answer alot of questions that fly through my head all day while I'm alone in my truck. As far as the FACTS and they are facts ( work is down and pay sucks) those subjects are being discussed everywhere ( your news, paper, friends, bosses and hell people you don't even know). I already know what I want to do and my plans are set in motion. The opions of others (which I agree with most of the time) will not discourage me in any way what so ever!!!!!! So just kick back listen and learn and just pull out of it what you need ITS FREE FOR THE TAKING, NO SCHOOL BILLS HERE. And thats just my opion

If you feel you've been crucifide let me remind you that you put yourself on that cross when you decided to insult this forum because you didn't read what you wanted to read.

I am a new driver. I came to this forum as a wannabe and I read, listened, and gained knowledge, friendships, advice and a great deal of other people's opinions. Because I am an adult I knew that opinions and advice are subjective and to use what I agreed with and toss the rest.

I chose a company that several on this forum do not like, did that stop me? No. Did it mean that they must suddenly change their opinion and start espousing what I want to hear? Not hardly.

This is an open forum. You get to express your thoughts and so does every other man and woman who click the little button. But when you decide to insult people you can pretty well expect them to kick back. Consider yourself kicked son.

I wish you well in your job hunt. I personally think an independent CDL school isn't the way to go but you're a big boy and you get to make your own choices in life. I hope it works out for you but that doesn't mean the economy isn't tight, jobs are scarce and the industry had a hard winter. Life is life and it doesn't get all Disney happy with little birdies singing "Good Morning Sunshine" just because we want to hear it.

Welcome to the forum, a place where you get to listen, speak and better be ready to get told what others think.

Man up cowboy the forum is a great ride.:biggrin_25525:

I've been a member for about 6 hours now, and this seems to be a great forum. I'll never get a chance to read it all, but its good stuff so far. Thanks to the folks who appreciate the forum enough to make it so helpful. Can't we all just get along? See ya down the road!

I appreciate the pep talk, Nana. However, I insulted NO ONE and no forum. I CORRECTED someone. Telling someone how to spell a word or two. That is not an insult. I never said one bad thing about this forum. Show me where I did. You will not convince me that correcting a grammatical or spelling error is something that deserves this amount of attention. Especially considering you're taking this awfully personally.

Is it rude to correct someone? That's subjective. However, seeing as it could have been, I apologized. (That apology that you, apparently, didn't read.) I'll send that person a 1800FLOWERS 'Get well.' card for the mental anguish I caused them if it'll drop the subject and less us get back on point.

I will ignore those doom and gloom people people from now on. Ridiculous as it is to have a list for the newbies and say "Just ignore posts from T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z. They're full of crap." But if that's the way it is...so be it.

    Have a nice day.

That's pretty much the same info you find here from what I can see. Everyone can get a job but guess what, not everyone will. The simple fact is it's a hard time to get into trucking, or pretty much anything for that matter. Most people here seem to feel it would not be a good idea to leave a secure job right now to get into trucking. The cost of schooling is high, the chance of getting a job right away is low and many companies will require a 'refresher' is there is much of a time gap between getting your license and starting working.

It sounds like you are already in school. I wish you the best of luck. There are jobs and I believe a person with the right attitude, a good work history, a clean driving record, a little patience and a little luck will do fine.

I'm curious though, has your recruiter given you any numbers on how recent graduates have made out finding work?

For my school, for the 6 month course. The hire rate, assuming people actually try and had a good attendance/grade is upwards of 75% (And he said the other 25% just weren't applying themselves.) I can tell that just by looking at the class I'm in now...

Maybe he's lying. Maybe not. I just know that, as far as I'm concerned, I'm the smartest one (or one of) in my class with perfect attendance/test scores. On the range hasn't happened yet. Won't until late June. I don't believe that'll change. I'm going to make this happen. They go on about how our school has numerous firms in their pocket that only pick from these schools, and how the length of the course is a definite plus. "It's not just some CDL mill." he says.

Thus my surprise when running into a lot of nay saying here.
