What kind mattress you sleeping on?

I slept on the top bunk until we went home the first time, that became "household" space after that. I can still hear him laughing at me the first time I climbed up to that top bunk, down musta been funnier though, I have a sever fear of falling and wouldn't climb down without help.

Now that was a matress that needed changeing.

 

I'm pretty sure after nearly four years of sleeping in a crappy bunk on an aircraft carrier that I can sleep on anything. Fell asleep and slept overnight on some pretty strange things: Stacked up metal detector panels, the floor in the aft storeroom, and a very uncomfortable office chair with the armrests missing. Probably all the boozin' inport...

 

You know I always wondered why the Navy used office chairs with wheels. I fell asleep in one once. . . once. U.S.S. Austin, they flew me out to do an inspection, did it, sat down in the electrical office fell asleep, woke up when my head met the corner of a fileing cabinet.

 

Been there, done that. I always used 550 to secure my chair to the bulkhead if we were going to hit rough seas. It isn't very often that you move around too much on a flat-top though...

 

I stretch out a cardboard box across the 2 seats and use newspaper.

I would shake my head as the fleet was steaming out of Hampton Roads for open water

 

I had the distinct HONOR AND PRIVALIDGE of spending some time aboard the JFK--b4 she was put down--and you know seas are rough--when you walkin like OTIS the Drunk down on the Hanger Deck!--LOL

 

True that. Course the worst "ride" I had in the Navy was the U.S.S Mississippi, felt like a pin ball, bad part? She was still sitting at the dock. Most fun Tico, 15 ft seas, like rideing a roller coaster.

Never was stationed ON a ship, just worked on them. Had the distinct pleasure of sleeping in the "troop" quarters on the Austin, gator freighter, makes most truck sleeping berths look like a palace with a down matress. It was only for two nights thankfully.

 

In the marines I slept in mud .....so anything dry is good enough for me

 

Oh then you would have loved troop berthing on the ships, metal frame with canvas laced on, 1 in thick matress. Roll in cause you sure couldn't sit up on them , well maybe the top one.
