Also Minnesota has a company that will lease/rent you a truck specifically to practice and then take the cdl skills test.. I have known a number of people from Iowa Illinois Minnesota that used this company to get there cdls for a variety of reasons. Some went on to company drivers some became O/O some just wanted a Class A cdl. So there are many different roads that lead to the same destination.

Thanks for starting this thread Farmboy73. I am in a similar situation as far as my background and my desire too become an OTR driver. The thread has given me a tremendous amount of solid advice an general knowledge..

That's the company I used. It's called Class A leasing. Great people to deal with.
