It was pretty hilarious when I realized that my cell phone that I carry in my pocket had far more computing power than the first really good tower PC I built back in 2000. While costing a few hundred less, at that.

At the time I had a side business with a couple partners performing various computer related tasks for small businesses. The three of us expensed the purchase of Gateway Solo 9300 laptops. I still have mine and it runs great, minus the battery being long gone. It’s thick and heavy, and cost $3,300 bucks. Lol. I loved that machine with its 4:3 aspect display running 1024x786. I still have it. It was probably my favorite computer to this day. What a nice machine it was in its day. But yeah, I’ll keep my MBP 16 thanks.

I never worked with PC Anywhere, but have done a bit of work with TeamViewer when I was helping a friend set up a gaming server. So I get the concept.

The thing I remember about PC Anywhere was the ads everywhere. Oh my god. You couldn't escape them.

I don’t remember ads. Maybe it was Paid vs Free issue or changed after I stopped using it.

So I've had my main computer's Arch install running since September of last year. I decided that I like the lower power consumption and form factor of the Intel Phantom Canyon NUC, so I decided to buy it off my friend. I figured that I could just slide the boot drive into the new PC, but...nope. After some hours fiddling with it, the best way I could figure to do this was install Arch on my data drive, use it to access the files on that boot drive, transfer everything over, wipe and reinstall Arch on my boot drive, grab my files from the data drive, and format the data drive.

And then spend hours configuring my "new" Arch install how I like it and installing every package that has ever existed in human history.

    Yayyyy

As I stated in another thread yesterday I am about 50% PC and 50% iOS. I played around with Linux a while back but grew bored quickly. So many of the programs I use almost every day will NOT run in Linux and to be honest, I am not a large fan of the various emulators out there. These days when I leave home I have my iPhone in my pocket and my iPad in my hand!

Same. I have an iPhone SE2 and an iPad mini. Does just about everything I need while I’m my Truck. Thinking about upgrading both of them.

Still considering other needs. Do I set up a small raspberry pi and connect it to a mounted TV for a bigger screen? Buy an iPad Pro and do the same thing? Or skip the TV and just buy a new thin screen iMac with Vesa mount?

    but for now, iPhone/iPad works.
