Wow, can not believe the vast amount of conflicting info out there about this little question of if the law requires them.
From what I can gather you are all wrong, the issues is effectively stuck waiting for the Fmcsa to send the courts an acceptable anti-driver harassment rule.

But did any one read the requirement? What it requires and what E-log companies say it requires are completely different. There is no requirement for real-time, or any remote reporting. Only that the device, or software, logs with auditing. You could meet these requirements with a simple smartphone app, as long as it supporting the audit trail requirement. I really don't see the big deal with it?

Actually Patty its Harold the instructot at MTI Burleson. He has been a trainer for 8 years, been with Millis as a driver for 9 years before that and drove for someone else for a decade before that. I never made a single comment on whether the info was true or not I simply shared that this is what I was told. I don't have a clue if its true or not and don't honestly care. We use both simultaneously

What do you mean by require?

    Swift does use EOBRs/ELOGS
Qualcom MCP200 is what they use.

You'd have a much easier time If you didn't worry about ELog/EOBRS so much. :yes2557:

I know I'm ignorant, but if I got work for a company that uses paper logs, can I as a driver subscribe to my own e-log service?
Such as this one like, but not necessary , this one? I just hate paper.

Not sure why so many people are afraid of elogs... much simpler in my experience. Unless you are running a little less than completely.legal, I am jot sure the objection.
