Again, I respectfully disagree with you. I don't need to know how much sni makes in order for my business to be profitable. If I like a rate, I take the load. I don't worry about the things I can't control. I can't control the rate that Schneider logistics contracts the loads for. I can't control the rate they broker the load to sni for. Therefore, I can't control the rate they offer me. So I focus on the things I CAN control like reducing costs & increasing revenue. Reducing costs is by far the most important of the two because that's where my profit comes from.

So how do you increase revenue when you don't control rates? Good question. I only know of two ways, but I'm still a rookie at this. 1) stay on top of ever changing markets & keep yourself in them, 2) work with a company that has the rates that work for you.

Schneider is basically a broker for us. Would you keep hauling freight from a broker that had rates you didn't like? I hope not. It works the same when leased on to a carrier.

You can't change/control what Schneider does, all you can control is how you react to what they do. You will never get what you call "a fair percentage" of the load from Schneider. They aren't set up for you to. They have it set up for the o/o to make a living & them to make money. But it's the way the industry is. An o/o should bring home double what any company driver makes but that doesn't exist in trucking. Sure, an o/o can make a good living at some companies buy non of us make what we should. Heck, I know of a couple companies I could go to work for & make more money than I do now with all the benefits.

Anyway, enough rambling. At the end of the day whether I get a true 65% or not is not going to have anything to do with whether I make money or not. Go ahead & call green bay & tell them you want to see the invoice for your loads. By law they have to show you. But all you'll see is what sni brokered the load for, not what the contract is for. And that's totally legal.

I fully agree with you in principle. If I were to negotiate a load with a broker and was happy with the rate who cares what the broker makes. Good for him. However when you are leased to a company with a agreement that pays 65 percent, limited only to their freight and have no ability to negotiate, it had #### well skippy better be a true 65 percent.

Or landstar. Bennett. Admiral merchant. Daily. Or any of the other two dozen good owner operator companies.

I agree. I bet if you have Schneider show you their invoice it will reflect 65% of what sni got paid. You will not see or receive 65% of the contracted rate because you're not leased to Schneider logistics. This is why I said focus on what you can control.

Also, you're not bound to only Schneider freight. You can pull whatever you want. They charge $150 a day for trailer rental & the load has to go through them so they get their percentage.

I am 100% Happy, SNI, SFI NOR TTR have anything to do with my HAPPINESS.

I'm not in business for happiness I'm in business with SNI for Flexibility and then profit.

I have other business interests and I ALWAYS want as much as I'm due.

I'm not going to question your happiness but you say you're happy so I believe you.

If you're happy just believing everything that SNI says or does then great, but your belief is just that yours.

I haven't always been cynical of SNI as an overall company they're ok but once were good.

I'm not about recruiting or sparing anyone's feelings but I'm also not trying to insult anyone but I will tell it how I see it. Everyone sees things differently and that's great.

As I've predicted or warned in the past I've been called a whiner, I can accept that but I've also been correct in said warnings and predictions.

Just as a couple weeks ago I said that SNI would grandfather in older trucks well now it seems I was right.

I don't come on TTR to bash or applaud any company or member, I come on here to state my view and experience at SNI. I don't browse other company threads often nor do I comment in those threads if I have no experience with that company.

I just wanted to rant a little here and I did so if you've read this far congratulations.

AND FOR THE RECORD I'M EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH MY LIFE!!!.......LOL

Right. Again I agree. Trip leasing makes sense only in certain situations though. But it's not so simple. My understanding is you have to show lack of available freight in your specific area in order to trip. I could be wrong but I never even considered it due to the hoops that were required to jump through. Has me thinking... If you trip lease through sni logistics, pay 150 trailer rental, then give national 65%, what just happened? Lol

Are you saying moonshine and mountain views make you happy? I call BS. Never have been much on mountains, hence my name "sealevel" but I sure do enjoy good moonshine.:)After highschool I worked 3 years on a charter boat in VA beach. Minimum wage plus tips. Twice a year the same group from TN would come fish with us.150 dollar tip and a jar of shine for the Captain and myself. 150 tip was cool, but when your 19 moonshine is worth more than gold.

Sorry for the rambling, not even sure why I posted this. Dang, I miss those guys. Lol

I was raised in Norfolk so the beach wore off me.

I love REAL shine and the Tennessee Mountains.

I'd spend everyday on the Mountain if I could.

Pulled my last load for SNI on Sunday. Overall they were good to me. Will say it till I'm blue in the face. To be quite honest I'm almost a little sad. They where at one time my customer but over time decided to be my boss. It just got all mixed up. Everyone has different experiences.

After all is said and done here's my take. Keep your equipment costs low and have eyes in the back of your head. It's a dirty business. This not only includes SNI but really the industry.

Vareity is the spice of life and so are disagreements. Without a disagreement from time to time life would be boring. Sometimes it doesn't matter who is right or wrong. Just my thoughts.
In the meantime I'm taking a week and a half off, tying and crimping lines and going monster striped bass fishing:D
