Well that's not true. The little ones still do.
But then again at that age they still want a pony, or a candy bar.
I miss those carefree days.
What new drivers should know.

Actually for your information I always wanted to drive truck since I can remember, It has been a difficult road but I still love every minute of it, I understand the lease purchase is usually a scam but if you guys dont have anything positive to say about trucking at all get a different job already no one is holding a gun to your head you can leave, instead of being all depressed and killing dreams on hear, I know the new guys do need some of a reality check after beleiving the recruiter but you dont have to tell them to run away!!

We had a know it all in my last orientation that just wouldn't shut up. Found out later that he has only been driving for a year and already failed at two fleece-purchases, two! Slow learner!

There are some leases where you can make more than a company driver. BUT, If you have no idea how to run a buisness, have a family and a mortgage to support it probably is not for 99% of you. If you get excited when they say $1.40 mile gross, run away, that number has nothing to do with what you will make. Until you realize why that is, you should stay away, far away.

####: i had no idea that not one of us was making any money, i really had no idea that we were all starving to death i am totally surprised at that, it is mazing that so many drivers out there have starve to death and more continue to fall evey minute now that is just unbeleivabel, it's a #### big crock that is what it is . MORE GLOOM AND DOOM AS USUAL some genious can't make it so nobody else can and can't wait to bust some ones dream, well for your information my friend if i can do it every #### one of you out there can do it an i ony have a 5th grade education and i have six trucks and about to buy five more but im starving yeah right.
all you drivers out there don't listen to all that hype the only time you ever lose in this business is when you quite if you have the balls to work and keep tryting you can make it and you will if one way dosen't work then pick another way and try again you can do it .
now as far as a lease purchase true drivers keep on signing those leases and most lose money its not a good way to go, BUT when you have the dream you are ready to try anything just to get a truck and there is nothing wrong with trying if it dosent work out your free to try somthing else and every time you try you learn a little more and that is how it is done eventually you will get it right and be sucessfull but one thing you can be sure of you will never make it if you listen to all the bad that some of these losers are spouting off about. it is just not like what they say it is , a lot of us out here are making money, you really think we do it for nothing , i haredly think so and most of when we eat don't eat biscuits and gravy as a matter of fact i eat steak for breakfast and dinner i like to eat good and i do. if your not making it you simplyt need to find another way, and keep on till you get it right again you never loose till you quit and if you listen to these experts preach doom and gloom you will never get any where simply because it is just not true.
my trucks roll every week and like i said if i can do it so can any of you. just keep a positive attitude and you WILL make it .
the very best of luck to all of you. southernpridebigcove, JustSonny, ihford350 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I was a company driver and I retired early. I live in a big house (too big) about 11 miles from the coast. My property taxes are over $7000 a year so I must still be doing ok. The only problem with making good money is the more you make the more you spend.

I guess what you all are saying then is that any new truckers must be stupid for taking up this occupation, but if that were true then what does it say for you? I happen to enjoy getting in the truck and taking off on a load. I look at it as an adventure and a challenge I may not make a million , but I'm happy and being happy is what life is about. I have been unable to drive for the last year and have been miserable starting in two weeks I'm back on the road and just the thought has made my attitude a lot better and I just got the news today. I'm sorry this is so long but I felt it needed to be said if this job is so bad to you find something you like to do and do it.
