I work for a Tanker company (my first time driving straight out of a Community College trucking school) hauling chemicals OTR. Now I've been with them for 18 months and trying to gauge what's next out there for me. I like the company I work for and looking for something better. The only problem I have with them is that, being an OTR driver, when I need to stay local and ask for some local/regional work during those times, I rarely get it. Other than that it's all good.

    At my current company:
Drive a brand new 2019 tractor.
    Average miles per week 2200.
    Loaded .56/mile.
    Empty .45/mile.
    Loading $20
    Unloading $20
    Detention $20/hour (after 2 hours).
Every night I sleep in the truck, I get paid $10.
    Layover/Breakdown/Dispatch Delay $20/hour after 14 hours.
Reset $20/hour for 20 hours out for 34 hours and $20/hour after until dispatched.
Most deliveries are no touch. In a year, I do may be 4-5 pump off loads & about 20 air offloads.
Get company paid hotels during layover, reset, breakdown or dispatch delay over 24 hours etc.
We don't carry hoses on our tractor, so we don't need to worry about getting them washed.
2 weeks paid time off a year.
Company reimbursed showers (if I don't have free shower lefton my loves/pilot/petro card).
Company reimbursed parking at truck stops (if needed).
Anything I need to purchase for work (tools, gloves, stationary etc) gets reimbursed.
Get as many days off. No questions asked.
Always gets me home when I need to be.

Like I said, I like where I work but just trying to see if I can get the above (and some more) with better pay elsewhere. I like to work a year or two more as a company driver and then buy my own brand new truck. I take home about $1200 a week after taxes, 401K and life insurance deduction. What are my options, if any? Thanks in advance!

I would be very careful about leaving. You have a pretty good job it looks like to me. Before you leave make absolutely sure that where you are going is better. Do your research and talk to multiple drivers at any potential new company before making a switch. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

My mother always says, it's better the devil you know.....only your situation doesn't sound like the devil. Driver, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Stay where you are. After you get some seniority you might be able to work local or regional.
There are a whole lot of drivers who would like a job like yours.
