    Stay right where you are.

You don't know that you are doing VERY well. The grass is NOT greener on the other side of fence. Ive backing that thought for you with a lifetime of experience.

You seem to be youngish. That's fine. The problem is you have not done anything bad in trucking to understand just how NICE your situation really is. So Stay right where you are. Stack your savings.

I'll share one thing. Wife and I got involved with very high value medicine as in narcotics via million dollar plus loads out of McKesson in Memphis. It by itself eliminated all the bad in trucking but added one problem. A behavior trait and mindset of being Prey. If those druggies in Memphis on US 79 ever knew what was in that trailer they probably would kill us for it.

However, that particular work for us was not necessarily overflowing with money in pay or anything like that. It was very motivating to deliver straight to the people who are sick and have need of this stuff and it's going to be at the hospital all over say Detroit by the end of day or next.

None of the BS grocery issues fighting lumpers or anything else negative about trucking that is out there. (Which does not appear to exist in your current Chemical Tanker work.)

Learn everything about your particular work. Try to evolve towards dispatch, management or even higher if there is a path in it's own time. Maybe 5 years, 10 or whatever. You have a whole life time to do this until your spine breaks at 55 or whatever. Hardly likely if you barely turn a valve now and then or toss a hose a few times a year. You will be doing this forever.

Just pace yourself. There is a whole Nation here, a whole world. With the time off you can get after a few years stacking savings you pretty much will find that you wont want for anything.

Chemicals in a tanker? Better you than me. Ive hauled hazmat before in a variety of forms but it's not for me even though I had no real problems other than old time dispatchers who cannot be bothered to wait a extra 40 minutes while I bypass a city in hazmat route. Half the people here chorused pretty much the same line, you got it good.

It's important you understand that. When you are 5 years to 10 years from now lolling on a million dollar pile in your bank you might have a whole world of oppertunities to double or triple that when carefully used. But for right now, it's normal to have a curiousity about what's out there.

There is good. the bad and the ugly. You seem to be where it's good. 95% of the people in trucking school are destined to flail around in a cesspool and get fired for small stuff because they have not found what you have found. Then become embittered and so on. That's no way to life. There is no joy in that.

Find the right balance effort , home time , money . I work for a small company, haul our own products , start pay is 19.00 with 1.00 raise every 6 months , plus bonuses , pay starts when you touch the truck , stops when you park . Been home every weekend plus through out the week ( depends on loads ) stay in the SE , most drivers are local , I would be to , but we need a few more drivers to cover the longer loads.
19.00 does not sound like alot now , but as the pay raises come in , it will equal out plus it's straight pay , no milage or percentage, short run or long . For me stedy pay and home time is worth it .

I am not the home every weekend kind of guy. I like to run. My current company doesn't have any regulation as to how many days out but I tell them, do not give a load back towards home terminal until 4 weeks. I stay out anything between 3-6 weeks before heading home.

At your company, it's 19*8*5 which equates to $760 gross. Even if driver runs 7 days a week, which I highly doubt, it's 19*8*7, which equates to $1064 gross. So the gross would vary between $760 - $1064 and averages at $912 gross income per week. I take home (Net Income) much more than that at my current company. So it doesn't make sense for me to switch over. But, I'd like to thank you for providing me the opportunity.

I gross over 1200 a week , work 55 to 65 hours per week , the work is not hard , when running local I can make the same . I just don't like the OTR stuff anymore I take the long runs , just to get out of town lol. It's not for everyone , just options
