I spoke to my nephew's father-in-law about his '08 C-15 yesterday. The only problem he's had with it was that the DPF wasn't going into Auto-cycle for Regen and he had to pull over and manually do it. He took it over to a CAT shop, and all it took was getting the engine hooked up to the computer at the shop and that fixed the glitch and off he went.

I would stay away from the newer CAT engines, but thats just me. What engine you choose is up to you when your payin the bills. My wife used to work for Cummins at the plant in Columbus Indiana as a fuel systems engineer, she told me that Cummins has a leg up on the other engine companies with regard to emissions compliance. For what its worth when I bought my truck in 06 I went with the D-16 Volvo and have not been dissapppointed with reliability, power or fuel mileage. If I were buying a fleet of trucks I would go with the ISX Cummins 475 hp.

I like the ISX and of course I am partial to Cummins since my KW has the best engine IMHO that Cummins made...the N-14 and mine is the Redtop too. If I could have that engine in the 387 well, no it only gets 5.5 MPG so no. But it's still a great engine for vocational work.
You have had great luck with your Volvo, are you able to get parts easily or are there delays in getting parts? -
I have no problems finding parts. I have all of my engine work done at authorized Volvo dealer/shops. Sometimes they need to order a part but thats the way it goes sometimes. I try to have all of my work done while unloaded because I anticipate delays. Knock on wood, this truck has never left me stranded on the side of the road.
