You'll be with a trainer with the company you go to. You won't be cut loose on your own or even as a team driver, until you're prepared.
What now?

Winter driving isn't really that bad. It's a big country, and the odds of you being in exactly the wrong place at exactly the wrong time when hazardous conditions are currently ongoing is relatively small. States that are used to it will have it cleared shortly after it stops. Your company won't pressure you if you don't want to run due to weather because that potentially exposes them to liability.
bryan21384 and Lonesome Thank this. -
'Any port in a storm" and "Root hog or die." all come to mind. Your situation compels take the lesser evil, poor company or do nothing.
Take one; apply your common sense, and be careful. Time will pass and things will jell.bryan21384, Lonesome and Chinatown Thank this. -
I'm going to and I'm going to give it my best shot honestly I knew that I had to do this anyway because I just didn't want to be in that position where I never tried you know all because I had some hardships finding something, and had a small accident

Well. . . It wasn't about waiting, I'm a big guy so tbh I never expected I'd get my license to begin with but as I started to get tired of being stuck with no direction in life, I said f it and full sent it, then my mom told me her boss would hire me so they had me apply for a trucking school and I went and I passed.bryan21384, Lonesome, GoneButNotForgotten and 1 other person Thank this.

So, you are looking to better you. You got your DL and CDL, congratulations. Good start. I actually think you riding with a trainer and trucking separately from mom will prove more beneficial for you.
The Obstacles in the way become the Way
Do you really want to be good at what you do? You had your DL for a short time and already had an accident. Obviously, avoiding accidents requires a certain skill level. While you are trying to find employment, what can you do to improve these skills?
1. There’s something that the majority of motorists and quite a number of dumbarse steering wheel holding braindead wannabe truck drivers say that makes me hope that when they die in a traffic accident, that I am not sitting in the backup.
“I just follow my GPS.”
Moron. Braindead NPC brained idiot driving on public roads.
Don’t want to be braindead? Learn to read
A. Road signs. All road signs. Even the yellow and orange ones. There’s almost always a backup at an interchange because some braindead is in the wrong lane, stopped in a travel lane to switch lanes.
B. Traffic. Traffic should flow. Where there’s a bottleneck in traffic, there’s a braindead waiting for the GPS to tell him what to do. When you recognize the braindead, either get in front of him or stay far behind in a different lane if possible. Why a different lane? Because braindead is going to slam on the brakes.
2. Self discipline. Sleep when it’s time to sleep. Drive when it’s time to drive. Don’t sit there playing video games or watching porn when you should be asleep.
If you have anxiety issues, go for a walk at the end of your shift. Nothing knocks out stress and anxiety like exercise. Big guy? Start walking before the age begins to handicap you even further physically.
Between the physical activity and the sleep, you should FEEL worlds better…much more calm. In today’s world, calm is a super power. Get yours.

I started there..You will be with a trainer for a couple of weeks. Since you are in Ohio you will be out of the Gary Indiana terminal, its a lovely place
. Also u are starting at a good time of year the worst of the winter is coming to an end soon. Its not gonna be all butterflies and rainbows as with anywhere starting out but u will gain valuable otr experience. Stick it out get your year or longer in and u can go almost anywhere. Drive yo ### off till u can't drive no mo for that day/night. I was there 5 years. U will know right quick if trucking is for u..I hope you like to drive cause people in it just for money and dont like driving and being gone that first year dont last long. Think of what u want down the road after experience. Drive safe and take your time, never get in a hurry which is hard at times. You want local u got it, hazmat u got it, ltl u got it..while u are out there think of what your long term trucking goals are. Good luck!

Man I want to be good at what I do, honestly, I won't lie, if I had the choice I'd of stayed at trucking school for a few more weeks until I knew I was solid. Also the accident, honestly man, I ####ed up, and even then I don't even know if it was truly my #### up because strangely it's my first ever accident and trust me I beat myself up over it more than any traffic fine or anything can do to me, I even repaid my step mom's dad for the deductible to fix the car I just think that people #### up in life, not everyone can be perfect. My dad has been driving over 40 years and he almost turned out in front of a car, turning left, I just think it was a one off Incident. But trust me it has worried me to death, made me question myself more than once, because I do care and I don't want to be out there ####ing up, there's enough #### ups out there, but trust me I'll get out there and do my absolute best because that's all I can do.
