I've parked on that same row before, luckily had a guy spot for me. Still took me a crapload of pull up 2 feet and then back 2 feet maneuvers.
The only other place that's been remotely close to that was the T/A in Hurricane West Virginia on the back row. I had to wait for the guy across from me in the angled parking to pull out before I could leave in the morning. Backing in to that spot required a spotter at all three corners of the truck and trailer other than driver side truck which I watched. I've never been back so I'm not sure if it was just the way people were parked.
What % of all truck stops are tight backing only

If you find yourself in the position of having to back into a spot that is beyond your ability at the moment, go some place else. We all have days when we are less then 100%. Most of the time we are less then sharp it is at a truck stop when we are tired. Tired = poor thinking. Wrong spot, wrong set up. That spot would require tandems to be slid a couple of times. Too much work when you are tired. Rethink and start again.

As far as truck stops go, I've parked in worse and it's not the backing that's scary. It's the fact that someone else will back next to you or pull out of their spot later on. And that could easily mean my night is ruined. The backing can be done, eventually...
It's much more fun when you get these kinds of situations at shippers. My favorite ones are the drop lots designed for as many 48' trailers as possible and full of 53' trailers (read: 10' less space between rows than necessary). Don't be afraid to slide your tandems and those spots become way easier to get in to.
I also keep an eye (and notepad) out for places that allow overnight parking in areas I know to be bad. You'd be surprised at how fast that notebook fills up. Customers/certain stores. Let's just say that there are stores out there that always allow truck parking. And they aren't called Walmart.BigGrumpy Thanks this. -
CA tandem position was the problem. Slide them most or all the way back for less swing.
