Prodirt, you're an entry level driver, and, I know nothing but some very general information, but compared to starting with a Mega carrier, it really does sound pretty good. Especially if you're home more than 3 days a month.
What pay should I expect?

It would be home daily. 5am start, travel around the state/region. Back to yard by 5-6pm. Maybe once every few months away for a week stay in hotel that they pay for. With that pay with the overtime it would be around $44,200 yearly gross. After 2 months of employment we can renegotiate pay they said. Not sure how much of an increase they are thinking
moloko Thanks this. -
Even if you are an entry level driver, you should be able to get more. I stopped at a walmart in jamestown, nd. They are hiring cashiers for $12 and stocking position they offer $14. Compare 2 jobs and tell me if its worth it for $1.5 more.

The Midwest is a big place. Some areas of the midwest are desperate for warm bodies; some not at all. It depends a lot on what the market is like in your specific area.

you say "in Vermont tractor trailer", so I'm confuzzled.

Exactly my point. Its economics 101. Supply and demand, action/ reaction, whatever you want to call it. When you accept the low wages, they wont go up. When they cant find drivers, then they will have to increase.
Also prodirt, if i were you, i would ask for the pay after 2 months. They might offer you $16 and call it a raise. A lot of my friends burnt like that. So take this as a friendly advice. I wish you the best. And if you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask me. I did almost everything in this industry. -
Keep your nose clean man, and you'll make some fat dollars a couple years down the road.
