I once got trapped with a bulk tanker against a wall at rockville fuel and feed which is a concrete plant making concrete for the I270 reconstruction project. It is safe to say miles of that center barrier poured contains hundreds of thousands of pounds out of millions delivered by me and the whole company there.
Anyway.
I backup seeking to squeeze past another bulk tanker nose to tail with me unloading. We both had r model macks. And Heil bulk tankers.
I tore his hood clean off and bent his front end on the left wheel. Plus more damage not reported by the safety of that company. Damage was in excess of 10,000 dollars.
Preventable. 24 hours later I had a pink slip and firing papers. Im told Im lucky they did not come after me for that money.
Why did I move? Suit at the plant boss ordered me to move that *&^ right dam now and get to a silo and I don't wanna hear your blubbering excuses BOY.
So I moved. #### em. #### me.
What qualifies as a 'preventable' on your DAC?

No such thing as a gentlemen's agreement anymore. -
I never heard from that again ever. I worked the breeding farm for the winter that year and kept my eyes peeled for that young un and his truck that hit the two in front during the morning commute.
I guess at this point their insurances got involved.
I had owned a pickup which was a nice one some years ago, went to the post office to get mail. A man in a new F250 totaled my truck in it's spot backing out of his spot. His insurance paid 6000 dollars to me to buy the truck off rather than opting for a 4400 dollar complete frame replacement and body and bed repaint etc. That truck had a 5.9 hemi with a hurst 5 speed manual and I should have kept that thing with a brand new frame and a rebuilt body to boot. It would be one of a few mistakes I ever made in my life letting that #### thing go. The allure of 6 grand was too much.mpow66m Thanks this. -
A lot of truck stops and loading docks now have security cameras all over. Add to this drivers out there that will drop a dime on you in a minute. If I were still driving today and hit something like a mirror I would report it. Most carriers safety depts are likely to terminate a driver for not reporting any accident. I would pay for another mirror if possible but there is no way I would not report it at my next opportunity.

Does that make me a snitch? I hope not. No one gets to do that damage and then get running. Ive rode a sleeper myself once getting crushed some time ago. Never again. -
All accidents are preventable, you know. You didn't have to come to work that day, and be where that meteorite landed. -

As far as the paint scratched. No way that's only a hundred bucks. At least five hundred to prep and blend in. Plus losing the truck for a minimum of 2 days. -

Either way, the driver should have to cough up the wrecker fee, cause that's not defective equipment, that's just not good judgement, be it lack of experience, training, whatever. I got pulled off to check where the hell I was at once, before the days of GPS, and sank almost up to the axles instantly. $400. Lessoned learned. Company never knew. Was in Arizona. Typically its not a problem, but it had just rained. DOH, DOH.
